Holy 3G Batman!

I've got time-based 3G on my Globe phone, wow.

It's 5 pesos per session (session is every 15 minutes). It's similar to SMART's 3G service (P10 per 30 minutes), except that you have to option to go back to KB-based charging.

Text TIME send to 1111 to switch to time-based, or KB send to 1111 to switch to KB-based.

Want to just download your pop mail (no attachments) into your PDA (or phone), just use KB-charging.. it's normally cheaper ( you wouldn't spend 15 minutes to download your email naman ). Want to surf and read articles online? Use time-based charging.

My only gripe is, when using time-based charging, when you get disconnected, that's bye-bye 5 pesos. You reconnect and that's another session, another P5. Or you connect to their network and got a GPRS signal instead of 3G (slower ~ 40-56kbps, yuck).. you would sometimes want to disconnect, and retry and see if you can acquire a 3G signal (~300 kbps, much better).. that's P5 per attempt.

I tried doing the on-air configuration (TEXT GO Phone,,,,1234) but somehow it didn't work. I went to globe, they tried to no avail until they finally said that they had to manually activate my account at the switch. I don't know what the hell that means. I checked this morning and everything's ok na.
