Journey to the Center of MoA

Saturday was supposedly our "date day"; me and Gid kept a very tight schedule until early in the evening - therapist for charles 8-9; medical city doctors 9-2; dentist for us 2-3; sideline work for me 3-5; home by 6. I called up iMax to ask for seat availability for their Dark Knight screening and i was informed that only front row seats are left for the 11pm-1:30am schedule. So much for a late night date movie :P

We moved our date schedule to Sunday, and trooped to Mall of Asia past noon. We queued for the Dark Knight on iMAX and got ourselves second to the front row seats for the 6pm screening (still more than 3 hours!).. i would have enjoyed the front row accomodation had this been a rock concert, but a movie!? Well, iMAX is iMAX so we accepted our fate and pondered what to do in the next 3 hours.

Hmmm.. why not watch another movie? So we trooped to the regular cinemas and found a perfect schedule to a good movie. Journey to the Center of the Earth starts at 3:50 and ends at 5:50.. sounds like a plan!

A bucketful of popcorn and we are off to the center of the Earth! It was a very interesting movie with a really hot icelandic chick (got dibs on the mountain guide) and a good ending.

After the movie and the popcorns, we went out to search for really good hotdogs and burgers. We found one near the iMAX theater (forgot the name of the store) and ordered a Johnsonville sausage, and a frame-broiled burger. Really, really good stuff. Off we go to the main event!

The Joker's face literally screams on an 8-foot screen close-up. Not all scenes were shot using iMAX, just the battle scenes and some of the significant portions of the movie. This batman movie is not your typical batman comic movie..

1. Batman lives on a penthouse condo unit. Not your usual mansion.
2. The batcave is secretly located below a 40-foot ship container.
3. Batman gets a sore throat and talks in a very hoarse voice everytime he dons his suit. I wonder why?
4. Alfred is not alfred of old. I don't like Michael Caine as Afred. I think Sir Ian McKellen (Dumbledor, Gandalf) would be a better choice.
5. Dark Knight's Joker is more sinister than Jack Nicholson. Tommy Lee Jones is still the better Two Face.
6. Convert cellphones into sonar devices? Not even James Bond thought of that.
